Grounds

For field closures:

Auckland Council manages the playing fields.  They regularly ascertain the condition of each of their grounds, and determine whether those grounds will therefore be available for games.

They update their website Mon-Fri at 2pm with any field closures they have due to maintenance or bad weather.  They will also generally put out a sign on the field to indicate that the ground is closed.
Check their site for field closures and enter your playing field where indicated:  http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/EN/parksfacilities/sportsfields/Pages/Home.aspx

Ground Maps:

Once you have checked the Auckland Rugby Union website for your game draw, you can check the location of your playing field here (Enter your field and then click “Map”):  http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/EN/parksfacilities/sportsfields/Pages/Home.aspx

Waiheke Island Games:

Waiheke Island home games are played at either Pigeon Mountain or on Waiheke Island itself.  The Auckland Rugby draw will indicate where your team is designated to play.

If you are actually playing on Waiheke Island itself, please contact Jimbo on email waihekejuniorrugby@gmail.com

The Waiheke Club is very helpful with logistics of the trip.  Often it will involve your team taking the ferry from Half Moon Bay to Kennedy Point where the Waiheke Club will usually pick the team up by bus and take you back for your ferry return after the game. They are also often very hospitable and put on a sausage sizzle after the game!

  • Sealink offers a team discount deal for a return ticket:
    • $22 per child ( child = 5-15y)
    • $34 per adult.
    • These tickets will need to be purchased at the same time to get the team discount.

It’s a great team away trip always really enjoyable for players and parents alike.

Subsidy only applies for travel to Waiheke, and for Waiheke to an opposition club. Games that are scheduled at Pigeon mountain are not subsidies.

For Invoicing:

  1. Club to Invoice ARU once booking has been made
  2. Invoice to include the team name/grade and date of game
  3. Please also attach the GST receipt(s).

Rugby Union provide a subsidy of between $110 (7 a side), $140 (10 a side), $170 (15 a side) per team towards player ferry costs – email Ali details of your team name, date of game and a scan of your ticket receipt to apply for this (plus your account details for repayment) grammarjuniorsrugby@gmail.com

Note for Managers:  As a team you can decide whether to share the reimbursement money with those who attended the game….or even to put it aside towards an end of season function for the team.
